چکیده

A HEART comprised of atria and a single ventricle, cor triloculare biatriatum, represents an unusual congenital defect. In her atlas Abbott1 described this as the unique defect in only 13 of 1,000 malformed hearts. Fourteen other hearts in her series had some anomaly in addition to a single ventricle. To date almost 100 patients with this defect have been reported in the medical literature but of these only 14 have reached adult life. Our patient is the fifteenth adult with cor triloculare biatriatum to be reported.

There have been various related reports of cor triloculare biventriculare in recent years. CASE PRESENTATION We described an emergency cesarean section of a 3...

Cor triloculare biventriculare with left superior vena cava.

Cor triloculare biventriculare is a rare congenital malformation of the heart in which there is a complete absence of the atrial septum. It is usually associated with other anomalies like complete atrioventricular canal defect, polysplenic syndrome, isolated dextrocardia, Ellis-van Creveld syndrome, or persistent left superior vena cava. We report a case of a stillborn male foetus of 35 weeks g...

Cor Triloculare Biauriculare: an Unusual Adult Heart.

Minor degrees of congenital malformation of the heart are fairly commonly discovered at Toutine post-mortem examinations and are compatible with normal life and age. Major degrees of congenital malformations are rarer and usually incompatible with long life. However, some who have lived to a good age are recorded. The earliest imperfect descriptions of bilocular hearts are by Pozzi in 1673 and ...

Congenital mitral atresia.

Mitral atresia is a rare congenital anomaly, but its true incidence is difficult to assess. In 1962, Fontana and Edwards reported 8 cases of isolated mitral atresia and found 24 others in published reports. They also described 5 cases of combined mitral and aortic atresia and found 23 other published cases. From Britain, MacMahon, McKeown, and Record (1953), in a careful survey of congenital he...
